Check Out as Guest
Currently, guests are required to create an account prior to purchasing tickets or sponsorships via the event website. Benefits of this approach: Accurate tracking of which guests make which purchases, Consolidated reporting and receipts for each purchaser, Ability of guest to return at a later date and purchase additional items, Ability of guest to store credit card number for future use (both for event website purchases as well as event-night checkout via the Control Center). However, the requirement to create an account does create additional friction during the purchase process, and may cause some purchasers to abandon the purchase process. This feature would allow the auction staff to disable the requirement that purchasers create an account prior to purchasing, at the expense of the above-listed benefits.

How has this been such a huge issue (and it is a huge issue if it deters donors from spending money) for seven years without a fix? That’s really sad because this is such a user friendly (on the back end) software and checks all your event planning needs while integrating but it’s worthless if it stops donors from spending money

That's pretty ironic and I was just online with the help desk with this very question. We have lost quite a few donors who thought they bought their tickets when they had to take the diversion to create an account. We now have to follow up with those people. While I see the benefits, it does come with some risks and feels too controlling. I'd vote to give the optoin to check out as a guest.

Why can't they just create an account and purchase a ticket at the same time without all the extra steps and emails?

This is a barrier to online ticket sales, a usability problem. Of course we can put the ticket prices in the intro text, but it’s still an unnecessary hiccup. We already have paper RSVPs coming in, so lots of guests arrive without an account anyway. For a paper-based auction, all we need is an email address associated with the bidder, and then they can receive an email invoice and create an account for self checkout if they so desire ... make it easy for them.
(Obviously accounts are more important for mobile bidding.)
I hope you all can change this soon - it’s been years. Thanks! -

So sorry we wasted money on this software. It is not user friendly on the admin or bidder end. Requiring bidders to register dissuaded people from participating in the online auction and we couldn't check out guests from the live auction unless they were registered in RSA! Had to get another card swipe system to do this. Not happy.

We are noticing a lot of people are registering and then never purchasing tickets. People just want to purchase the tickets and that's what we want, it they don't register we can take care of that at the event. It is more important to get them there and for them to have a pleasant experience with the ticket purchasing process...

As an event planner....this feature needs to be disabled ASAP! Have never in my 30+ years of event planning, seen this required with any other systems used by not-for-profits.

We would LOVE this change. This extra barrier to anyone giving/purchasing is one of the biggest downsides to using ReadySetAuction. Our goal is to raise money. Thanks!

I want to be able to place proxy eBids for people that did not set up an account. We used RSA for an auction 2 weeks ago - it was almost a hug failure because people did not set up their accounts. If this is not changed - we will probably go with another service for next year. Huge friction at our event.

The ability to VIEW the ticket prices/offerings without having to register beforehand should be standard, period. This is exactly the same issue as not being able to VIEW (only view, not bid) the eCatalog offerings until the eCatalog window opens up. It benefits all of us to have the ability to view information in as few steps as possible and as easily accessible as possible. Please make this change!

I would like people to be able to go in a VIEW the online items and ticket prices. People like to lookie-loo. I'm afraid many people go to the RSA site and the minute they have the spend a minute creating an account . . . they leave. People should ONLY have to create an account if they are going to purchase - just like at eBay, Gap, Nordstroms, etc. Makes logical sense and many people at our school have complained.

I don't care if people have to create an account in order to purchase tickets - I would just like them to be able to VIEW the ticket prices and options prior to having to create the account.

It should be an option to create an account at this time or at a later time. I think the requirement is going to turn many people away. It's now a cumbersome method to buy tickets to come to the event.

AGREED!! We need to be able to sell a ticket to our fundraiser without irritating people!
