Allowing table purchasers to be entered the same way as individual seat purchaser
Anybody wanting to buy a table had to enter this as a sponsor, which had two adverse consequences: a) it was hard for attendees buying tables to find how to do so on the site (we had to speak with a lot of folks to advise them how to do this); and b) generating reports of attendees was difficult from an administrative perspective, because accessing information about individuals and sponsors have to be done in two different ways. We view individual purchasers and table purchases (other than a true sponsor, such as a corporation) as the same thing.

Agree with OP about viewing table purchases by individuals as being more like ticket purchases, should be just a different way of purchasing tickets (and certainly can have more than one size table available). Even better: allow an individual to purchase a table (say for a group of friends) but allow the friends to pay for their seats online rather than having to bring checks to the original purchaser. Also would be nice to allow couples tickets purchase, with option for separate check-in if they wish to bid, buy, etc. with separate ID's and credit cards [is this a separate suggestion?].
