Allow patrons to store credit card information without making a purchase (2nd request)
I am resubmitting a feature request that was created in 2016. This feature was marked "Already Exists" and closed. Although the RSA Support Manager responded (and his response make sense for SPECIFIC conditions), the current implementation of ReadySetAuction does NOT address wholly.
Here's the original request word-for-word:
Currently, patrons are required to make an online purchase (admission tickets, sponsorship sales, etc.) in order to be presented with the option to store their credit card information for use at the event. It would be great if they were able to create this online account and store credit card information without having to make a purchase.
Here's the RSA Technical Support Manager's response:
Thank you for this idea. There are three different ways you can store a credit card within readysetauction. Two of them don’t require a patron to make a purchase.
1. As the Admin, you can require a credit card to bid by going to: Admin > Event Settings > Event Website > Check the box that says “Require a stored credit card for eBidding”
2. You can enter the credit card at check-in by going to: @Event > Check In Guest
3. Patron can make a purchase on the event website and choose to save their credit card information for future use.
Respectfully, here's my addition/explanation of a situation where the above does not wholly address this feature request.
Re: response #1: I have the "Select Edition" plan of ReadySetAuction. Therefore, response #1 above is not applicable for me.
Re: response #2: This is the reason we WANT this feature implemented -- so that we reduce the time it takes to register people when they arrive to the event because we'd already have their card on file.
Re: response #3: As the original request states, we don't want to force someone to purchase a ticket online (In my case, we handle many registrations by check ahead of time).
So essentially, we would like that a user be able to create an account and simply save a credit card for their account. And that's it. No need to purchase anything, just save their credit card information.
