This is a barrier to online ticket sales, a usability problem. Of course we can put the ticket prices in the intro text, but it’s still an unnecessary hiccup. We already have paper RSVPs coming in, so lots of guests arrive without an account anyway. For a paper-based auction, all we need is an email address associated with the bidder, and then they can receive an email invoice and create an account for self checkout if they so desire ... make it easy for them.
(Obviously accounts are more important for mobile bidding.)
